Polymyositis

Gain valuable insights into Polymyositis (PM) in this detailed presentation by Prof. Dr. Mike Chan, created for rheumatologists, neurologists, and integrative medicine practitioners. PM is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory myopathy that primarily affects skeletal muscles, leading to progressive proximal muscle weakness, fatigue, and difficulties with mobility and daily activities. In some cases, interstitial lung disease, dysphagia, and cardiac involvement may complicate the course. Diagnosis relies on clinical evaluation, elevated muscle enzymes, EMG studies, autoantibody profiling, and confirmatory muscle biopsy. Conventional treatment involves corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, but optimal care also incorporates a holistic, immune-restorative approach: Autologous Active Specific Immunotherapy (AASI) to re-establish immune tolerance; PSC (Precursor Stem Cells) and GcMAF Forte to modulate immunity and aid muscle regeneration; Thymus Therapy with MO Thymus and NOP Thymus to support central immune balance; and systemic therapies like Transfer Factors, MO STF, and NOP STF to reduce inflammation, preserve muscle function, and enhance long-term quality of life.
