Now, I Can Smile: Parkinson’s Patient, Tan Sri Mohd Bakri’s Recovery

“The thing is, I cannot express myself. I cannot smile. I was the longest-running CID Director in Malaysia – for eight years – and speech is very important during interviews to tell the public what cases are happening in the country. I didn’t have the expression.

Now, I can smile.”

Tan Sri Mohd. Bakri Mohd. Zinin had an illustrious career as one of Malaysia’s top crime busters, culminating with his role as the country’s Deputy Inspector-General of Police, before retiring in 2014. Towards the latter end of his career, however, Tan Sri Mohd. Bakri faced the debilitating symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Aside from mobility issues, it robbed him of his ability to smile – an important part of the man who was known by many for his strict yet warm and friendly nature.

Today, Tan Sri Mohd. Bakri can once again express himself. Tune in to today’s episode of #EWSuccessStories to learn how he did it!
