Global Leaders Praise Prof. Mike Chan’s Regenerative Breakthroughs at Bangkok Longevity Forum

Longevity Forum 120: Experts at Bangkok Summit Say Healthy and Long Lifespans Are Within Reach: A united front of global experts advancing regenerative medicine, AI-driven healthcare, cellular therapeutics, and translational research. This powerful gathering reflects the Summit’s commitment to cross-border medical collaboration.

BANGKOK, Thailand (Nov 11, 2025) — International health leaders attending the We Are The World summit offered rare public praise for Prof. Mike Chan, calling his stem cell and regenerative medicine concepts innovative and ahead of their time.

US FDA senior medical officer Dr. Michael Yao, who has spent years shaping regulatory frameworks for cell and gene therapies, said Chan’s approach introduced an important new dimension to the longevity discussion.

Prof. Mike Chan’s regenerative medicine concept was new to me,” Yao said after the session.
“This is the first time I heard it at this meeting — it is very important. We will discover something significant in that area.”

The comment drew attention, as FDA officials seldom commend individual scientific models so directly.

Dr. Yao,  a quiet but powerful architect of global cell & gene therapy regulatory frameworks — attended the Summit to support Prof. Chan’s pioneering breakthroughs in longevity science and mitochondrial medicine.

A global authority in biopharmaceutical and cell/gene therapy regulation, Dr. Yao played a key role in shaping U.S. FDA policies that became international benchmarks. Recipient of the FDA Lifetime Achievement Award (2017), he brings rare expertise at the intersection of science, regulation, and global biotech strategy.

From Hong Kong, Prof. Zhi-Xiu Lin, a leading scholar in integrative medicine with more than 270 scientific papers, said he learned “a great deal” during Chan’s lecture the day before the forum.

“Yesterday I attended Dr. Mike Chan’s lecture for two hours. I learned a lot,”  Prof. Zhi-Xiu Lin told delegates.
He added that the idea of reversing organ decline at the cellular level — rather than replacing the organ entirely — was “a smart and durable idea.”

Lin said the precision-based model Chan advocates aligns with modern bioscience principles. “If you can change the cells instead of the whole organ, that is a smart approach,” he said.

The appreciation also came from clinicians such as Dr. Claude Chauchard,  of La Clinique de Paris, who noted that Chan’s highly targeted methodology reflects the direction in which anti-aging medicine is moving.

While Chauchard did not speak at length during the panel, he acknowledged that the high specificity of Chan’s organ-focused treatments represents what many clinics are striving to achieve as the field evolves.

Across the summit, Chan’s message that aging must be tackled at the cellular blueprint level through organ-specific precision resonated strongly with international attendees.

His methods, long implemented in European Wellness centres, also gained fresh attention from regulators, clinicians and academic researchers seeking more nuanced models for measuring healthy aging.

Champions of Longevity

The Longevity 120 Forum brought together leading voices in regenerative medicine, anti-aging science, and integrative health. Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan headlined the session with breakthroughs in organ-specific cellular therapy, joined by Dr. Claude Chauchard, the pioneering French anti-aging specialist; Prof. Zhi-Xiu Lin of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a respected authority in integrative and herbal medicine; and Prof. Zhongchao Han, a leading academician in stem cell science and translational regenerative research. The forum also featured Dr. Michael Yao, a global FDA biopharmaceutical regulatory expert, and Dr. Paul Rochon, a specialist in sleep and cognitive wellness.

Adding further depth to the programme were Prof. Taihua Wang, renowned for his work in neuroregeneration and Parkinson’s motor repair, and Jason Sze, 2019/2020 Global Chair of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation and Group Managing Director of A.J. Mason Group, who shared insights on the global expansion of longevity and precision medicine. Together, these speakers presented a comprehensive vision for extending healthspan through science, innovation, and cross-border medical collaboration.

Achieving Healthy Lifespan

During the roundtable discussion, scientists and medical experts at the We Are The World Global Summit said that advances in regenerative medicine, biomarkers and integrative therapies could help push healthy human lifespans toward 120 years.

Speaking at the event’s Longevity 120 Forum, European Wellness founder Prof. Mike Chan said aging should be treated through targeted organ-specific and brain-specific approaches, arguing that precursor stem cells offer the most promising pathway.

“If you have 400 types of stem cells to reverse aging, why give only one?” Prof. Mike Chan said, adding that healthspan — not just lifespan — must be extended to ensure meaningful longevity.

Dr. Michael Yao, senior medical officer at the US Food and Drug Administration, said traditional clinical trial designs are inadequate for assessing longevity drugs because endpoints are impossible to measure over decades.

“We now look at biomarkers — genetic and circulating markers — as the way forward,” he said, noting growing regulatory interest in more modern evaluation tools.

From Hong Kong, Prof. Zhi-Xiu Lin, director of the School of Chinese Medicine and director of Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) said ancient practices remain relevant, stressing the importance of diet, exercise, mental calm and social engagement in preventing neurodegenerative diseases.

“Even if you live long, without good cognitive health, longevity has little value,” he said.

French senior anti-aging specialist Dr. Claude Chauchard added that personalised therapies and comprehensive diagnostics are becoming central to long-term wellness strategies.

Dr. Claude said: “Things are going to change in the next few years. Number one is stem cells. We believe stem cells are already booming, but they will become even more precise because we now have different kinds of stem cells. We have natural killer cells, MUStem cells, all types of umbilical stem cells, Wharton’s jelly stem cells — many different forms.

“Beyond that, I see gene therapy becoming something very new. Today, we are able to cut DNA and replace diseased genes. That is going to be the future. And another future is super peptides treatment…

“But stem cells cannot do all the work. You also need internal medicine working together with stem cell treatment. This is what I call Total Aging Management, he added.

Despite differing medical backgrounds, these four experts agreed that extreme longevity will require a combination of precision regenerative therapies, validated biomarkers and lifestyle factors that promote mental and immune resilience.

“We can reverse aging significantly — and we must,” Prof. Mike Chan concluded.
