Empowering Sabah Youth Through the “Wealth & Health of Tomorrow” Programme

European Wellness Academy Inspiring the Next Generation

KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – 29 July 2026 – The European Wellness Academy (EWA) hosted the “Wealth & Health of Tomorrow – Sabah Youth Program” as part of its Academy Social Responsibility (ASR) initiative, bringing together 56 pax of students and lecturers from MAHSA College Sabah, TAR UMT Sabah Branch and North Borneo University College.

Held at the European Wellness Academy Auditorium in Kota Kinabalu, the programme aimed to provide young people with meaningful exposure to perspectives beyond the classroom and encourage them to think about their future, focusing on health, its link to wealth, and healthcare costs with greater purpose and confidence.

The attendees – students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (Sabah), the MAHSA College Sabah Campus and the North Borneo University College, Kota Kinabalu Sabah – who were also accompanied by academicians, were warmly welcomed and inspired by Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan as he spent over an hour passionately sharing detailed words of motivation, focusing on hope as he interacted with the enthusiastic and vibrant attendees. Students were encouraged to embrace ambition, hard work, continuous learning, make the most of available opportunities and prepare themselves for a healthier, optimistic and more fulfilling future.

This opening was followed by an insightful presentation by guest speaker, Madam N. Parimala (BBA, U.Malaya) , a Certified Financial-Protection Consultant. She invited students to consider the future cost of healthcare with the thought-provoking question, “What will a standard medical procedure cost, in 2046?”” She called on the youth to take responsibility for their own health and financial wellbeing rather than relying solely on employer-provided or government-subsidized medical care, help and benefits. The speaker emphasized that early planning while young and healthy can provide greater financial security in the future.

Closing segment in the programme was an interactive session with Bawani Nesamany (MD, M.Ed) – the Academic Board Advisor of European Wellness Academy. She addressed the “Current and Future of the Health & Sick Care Industry, Personal & Family Health, Cost and Lifestyle – What Awaits 20 Years From Now”. The session provided students with insights into the evolving field of health, highlighting emerging challenges, innovations and their potential practical applications in personal and family healthcare. The presentation also explored how advances in health innovation should influence youth’s decisions on their and loved ones’ health, lifestyle and its impact on healthcare costs in the years ahead.

The programme focused on the importance of being proactive about personal health as it inevitably impacts personal and family financial wellbeing, since these are 2 strongly interdependent factors. European Wellness Academy (EWA) aimed this program to equip young people with greater awareness of rising healthcare costs and the need for early, informed future planning.

Through this CSR initiative, EWA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Sabah’s youth through education, inspiration and meaningful community engagement, while inspiring them to become responsible, healthy and future-ready individuals.
