CANNES IGNITES: Glamour, Paparazzi and a Star-Studded Evening at Hotel Martinez
The Festival Atmosphere Intensifies

CANNES, France (May 13, 2026) — The energy across Cannes shifted dramatically on May 13 as the city officially entered full festival mode.
By late afternoon, the streets surrounding the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès were overflowing with visitors, photographers, media crews, luxury vehicles, and curious fans eager to witness the arrival of international celebrities.
Around 5pm, crowds packed tightly behind metal barricades opposite luxury boutiques and high-end automotive showrooms lining the boulevard. Festival staff moved briskly between entrances while classic 1980s hit songs echoed through the area, creating an almost surreal atmosphere of nostalgia and cinematic excitement.
One after another, sleek limousines rolled toward the red carpet.
Celebrities emerged beneath flashing lights before ascending the now-iconic Cannes staircase as photographers battled for the perfect shot.
The festival had officially come alive.
A City Transformed by Cinema and Celebrity
The opening of the 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 12 marked the beginning of nearly two weeks of global cinema celebrations, red-carpet premieres, industry networking, press conferences, and international media attention stretching across the Croisette from May 12 to 23.
Throughout the afternoon, the Palais area became increasingly crowded as invited guests, media representatives, festival workers, and curious visitors gathered around the famous venue waiting for the evening’s arrivals to begin.
Large broadcast screens, camera platforms, security barricades, and media staging zones surrounded the red-carpet entrance while photographers positioned themselves strategically for the arrival of actors, filmmakers, producers, and international personalities attending the ceremony.
The opening night programme included the official red-carpet arrivals, the opening ceremony itself, and the world premiere screening of La Vénus Électrique, directed by Pierre Salvadori and presented out of competition.
The evening was also set to feature appearances and performances by host Eye Haïdara, musicians Theodora and Oklou, alongside a special musical score performance by violinist Miri Ben-Ari.
Hotel Martinez Becomes a Celebrity Hotspot

Back at the legendary Hotel Martinez, the intensity was equally unmistakable.
Compared to the previous day, the number of paparazzi and onlookers surrounding the hotel’s metal fences had increased almost threefold. Every few minutes, another luxury vehicle would arrive carrying actors, influencers, fashion icons, or VIP guests.

Among the striking arrivals were Porsche sports cars, Lamborghinis, and even a dazzling electric-blue Rolls-Royce Phantom that immediately drew the attention of photographers gathered outside the entrance.
Inside the hotel lobby, guests mingled beneath elegant chandeliers while cameras flashed continuously as celebrities stopped for group photos and impromptu media interviews.
Throughout the evening, the Martinez transformed into more than just a luxury hotel — it became a stage of its own.
Behind the Scenes with Hofit Golan

Behind the scenes inside Hofit Golan’s suite as photographers, videographers, and stylists prepare for an exclusive Cannes-themed photoshoot session with Prof. Mike Chan.
Inside the suite, makeup artists adjusted hairstyles while photographers and videographers documented the preparations behind the scenes.

Prof. Chan later emerged in a sleek black formal ensemble paired with a refreshed hairstyle as the photoshoot moved into the grand staircase corridors and elegant corners of the Martinez—locations long associated with celebrity portraits and festival glamour.
Under warm hotel lighting, Hofit, dressed in a striking emerald-green evening gown, posed alongside Prof. Chan while photographers directed angles and captured cinematic-style shots around the sweeping staircase.
The atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed, with stylists, assistants, and photographers moving around rapidly as guests occasionally paused to observe the glamorous setup.
Cameras, Crowds and Riviera Glamour

As night approached, Hofit later escorted Prof. Chan toward the main entrance of the Martinez, where crowds and photographers continued waiting behind barricades for celebrity sightings.
Fans leaned against the metal barriers while paparazzi positioned oversized camera lenses toward arriving guests and personalities stepping out of luxury vehicles.
Nearby, giant festival screens broadcast live red-carpet coverage from the Cannes Film Festival, adding to the electrifying atmosphere unfolding simultaneously across the city.
Inside Cannes, glamour was no longer confined to the red carpet alone.
It spilled into the hotels, cafés, corridors, balconies, and streets — transforming the Riviera into a living stage where fashion, entertainment, luxury, and influence blended seamlessly together.
For Prof. Chan, the evening provided a rare glimpse into the social machinery that powers Cannes beyond cinema itself.

“This is truly where influence, storytelling, media, and culture intersect,” he reflected.
“But even amid all the glamour, people are still searching for meaning, well-being, connection, and quality of life. That conversation about health and longevity belongs everywhere—even here.”
As midnight approached, the lights around Cannes continued glowing against the Mediterranean coastline while the city prepared for even bigger premieres and celebrity arrivals in the days ahead.
