Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026 Unites Fashion, Luxury, Wellness, and Tourism in Global Showcase

International designers, luxury hospitality, regenerative wellness and tourism leaders come together to position Malaysia as Asia’s next destination for couture fashion and premium lifestyle experiences

KUALA LUMPUR (July 10, 2026) — Couture Fashion Week Malaysia (CFWM) officially launched its fourth edition on Thursday with an ambitious vision that extends far beyond the runway, unveiling plans to position Malaysia as a regional hub for couture fashion, luxury lifestyle, and wellness tourism.
Held at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur under the patronage of Y.A.M. Prince Sulaiman Shah Alhaj ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj, the press conference brought together government officials, tourism leaders, luxury hospitality executives, healthcare innovators, fashion designers, entrepreneurs, and international media ahead of the main gala on August 29 at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
This year’s edition introduces a new Luxury Wellness Tourism Initiative, a strategic collaboration that connects the fashion, tourism, healthcare, hospitality, and wellness industries, recognizing the growing demand among global luxury travelers for experiences that combine style, well-being, and longevity.
Organized by Media Path Productions in collaboration with Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, and Tokyo Fashion Week, Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026 continues its mission of promoting Malaysia as a premier destination for couture fashion, cultural exchange, luxury tourism, and creative industry development.

More than 500 invited guests are expected to attend the August showcase, with 16 international designers and four Malaysian designers presenting collections. Delegates and designers from Australia, France, Russia, Malaysia, Morocco, Indonesia, Japan, India, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, and the Netherlands are expected to participate, reinforcing the event’s expanding international profile.
Fashion Meets Luxury Wellness
One of the strongest themes emerging from the launch was the growing convergence between fashion, healthspan, and luxury lifestyle.

Among the keynote speakers was Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan, Chairman of European Wellness, who described wellness as the natural companion to luxury fashion, arguing that beauty and confidence are sustained through good health rather than appearance alone.

Drawing on more than four decades in regenerative medicine, Prof. Chan traced European Wellness’ journey from a small clinic established in Geneva in 1983 with just two chairs and US$2,500 into an international network of 46 hospitals and medical centers serving patients from around the world.
Rather than focusing solely on business achievements, however, he used the occasion to challenge conventional ideas about aging.

“Everyone is talking about living longer,” he said. “So it’s important to live longer—but live healthier.”
That distinction between lifespan and healthspan became the central message of his presentation.
While advances in medicine have extended life expectancy, Prof. Chan argued that quality of life must remain the ultimate goal.
“What’s the point of living 100 years or 120 if you’re lying in bed, or you have pain, or you can’t walk properly, or you can’t see properly?” he asked.
He described European Wellness’ mission as helping people remain “younger, healthier, sharper,” and “desirable at all times, even if you are 120.”
According to Prof. Chan, today’s definition of luxury has evolved beyond fashion labels and premium products.

“Fashion makes people feel good. Wellness helps them stay that way.” – Prof. Mike Chan
His remarks reflected the philosophy behind the newly launched Luxury Wellness Tourism Initiative, where regenerative medicine, preventive healthcare, and premium lifestyle experiences combine to create a new dimension of luxury tourism.
Sabah Positioned as a Luxury Wellness Destination
Prof. Mike Chan also highlighted Malaysia’s growing reputation in regenerative healthcare, particularly Sabah, which he said has attracted international patients and high-net-worth individuals seeking advanced wellness therapies.
He described wellness tourism as an increasingly important contributor to Malaysia’s visitor economy, complementing traditional tourism attractions while reinforcing the country’s reputation as a destination for premium healthcare and longevity medicine.

Fashion as a Tourism Driver
Expanding on the tourism perspective was Chan Hon Mun, Senior Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia, who delivered remarks on behalf of Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
A senior tourism official with extensive experience in international promotion, Chan emphasized that fashion has become an increasingly important component of destination branding as travelers seek authentic lifestyle and cultural experiences.

“Tourism today is no longer limited to leisure travel alone,” he said. “Travelers are increasingly seeking unique lifestyle, cultural, and creative experiences that allow them to connect with destinations in meaningful ways.”
He noted that fashion showcases generate international media attention, attract premium visitors and stimulate spending across multiple industries, making them valuable contributors to Malaysia’s tourism strategy.

“As a nation, we are targeting 47 million international visitor arrivals.”
A senior official with extensive experience in international tourism promotion, Chan highlighted the importance of strategic collaborations between the tourism and fashion sectors in elevating Malaysia’s global profile while advancing innovative and sustainable tourism initiatives under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
He added that achieving this ambitious goal requires closer collaboration between tourism, fashion, arts, culture, and the creative industries, particularly as Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
