European Wellness, KTPK Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Sports Science in Professional Boxing

Redefining Athlete Care Through Regenerative Medicine — European Wellness and Kelab Tinju Profesional Kinabalu (KTPK) forge a landmark partnership to introduce advanced sports science, regenerative medicine, and world-class recovery solutions to professional boxing through BAM Championship 2026.

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah (July 16, 2026)—European Wellness Sports Science Regenerative Centre (EW-SSRC) and Kelab Tinju Profesional Kinabalu (KTPK) today formalized a strategic partnership aimed at bringing advanced sports science, regenerative medicine, and athlete health management into professional boxing in Sabah.

The collaboration was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the European Wellness Premier Centre, one day ahead of the BAM Championship 2026, marking a significant step towards integrating comprehensive medical assessment and performance optimization into the sport.

European Wellness and Kelab Tinju Profesional Kinabalu (KTPK) officials celebrate the launch of their strategic partnership ahead of BAM Championship 2026. The collaboration integrates sports science, regenerative medicine, and athlete recovery technologies to support the next generation of professional boxers in Sabah.

The partnership positions European Wellness as a key medical and sports science partner for professional boxing, supporting athletes through scientific health assessments, injury prevention strategies, recovery protocols, and long-term performance optimization.

Speaking on behalf of European Wellness Chairman Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan, Chief Operating Officer Francis Chung said the collaboration represented far more than a sponsorship arrangement.

Francis Chung, Chief Operating Officer of EW Global Sdn. Bhd. delivers a keynote speech on behalf of Chairman Prof. Dato' Sri Dr. Mike Chan, outlining the group's vision of combining regenerative medicine with professional boxing to improve athlete performance, recovery, and long-term health.

“For more than four decades, European Wellness has focused on helping people recover better, perform better, and enjoy a higher quality of life. Today, we are bringing that same philosophy into professional boxing.”

“This is where our mission meets the ultimate test of human performance,” he added.

Chung said modern boxing demands more than physical strength and determination, requiring athletes to recover quickly, minimize injuries, and maintain peak performance throughout their careers.

“Today, we’re introducing a new paradigm—champions who don’t just fight harder but recover smarter, perform better, and build legacies that extend far beyond the championship belt.”

Chung said the collaboration would establish a new benchmark for athlete care by combining comprehensive medical assessments with regenerative medicine and sports science technologies.

“Your health matters as much as your victory,” he said.

“As fighters step into the ring, they will do so supported by scientific assessments and recovery strategies designed to help them perform at their best while safeguarding their long-term health.”

Earlier in the day, participating fighters underwent official weigh-ins and comprehensive medical assessments conducted by European Wellness medical professionals before attending briefing sessions together with coaches and team managers.

The assessments formed part of a broader initiative to promote athlete safety, ensure medical readiness, and establish professional health standards within combat sports.

Representatives from Kelab Tinju Profesional Kinabalu welcomed the partnership, describing it as an opportunity for Sabah’s professional boxers to benefit from advanced sports science and regenerative medicine technologies that were previously not readily available locally.

BAM Championship 2026, Sabah Professional Boxing Association secretary Zairul Hijoo was pleasantly surprised to discover such a comprehensive sports science and recovery facility already operating in Kota Kinabalu.

“This collaboration will help our athletes recover better, reduce the risk of injuries, and support the long-term development of both our male and female professional boxers. Ultimately, it will raise the overall standard of professional boxing in Sabah.”

The organizers believe the initiative could serve as a model for future collaborations between sports organizations and medical institutions, combining scientific innovation with elite athletic performance.

The BAM Championship 2026 took place on July 17 at Dewan Tertutup Putatan, featuring professional boxers from several countries competing under the sanction of international boxing organizations.
