Prof. Mike Chan Signs MOU with UEES University
Guayaquil, Ecuador – October 16, 2024. Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES) has solidified its reputation as a key player in medical education and research with the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan, a renowned expert in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. The agreement, finalized during Prof. Chan’s speaking tour in Ecuador, aims to foster collaboration in advancing medical education and research.
Founded in 1993 and located in Samborondón, Guayas, UEES is a private, non-profit institution that has earned accreditation from Ecuador’s higher education governing agency, CONESUP. The university employs an advanced bilingual teaching model across its undergraduate and postgraduate programs, enhancing the learning experience for its students.
During his visit, Prof. Chan praised UEES for having “one of the best medical facilities among universities” he has encountered in his career. He highlighted the university’s state-of-the-art resources and comprehensive Doctor in Medicine program, which combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, making it a key player in fostering healthcare innovation in Ecuador.
The signing of the MOU marks a commitment to integrating cutting-edge scientific advancements into UEES’s curriculum, with a focus on regenerative therapies and community health initiatives. Prof. Chan’s engagement with the university aligns with its emphasis on biomedical research, which has become increasingly significant in addressing local health challenges through scientific inquiry.
In addition to its Doctor in Medicine program, UEES also offers a diploma in Nutrition, reflecting the growing importance of dietary health. The university encourages students to participate in community service projects, applying their medical knowledge to real-world situations and enhancing their understanding of public health dynamics.
With modern laboratories equipped with the latest technology and a Eureka Entrepreneurship Center launched in 2020 to foster innovation, UEES continues to be a leader in medical education.
