KUALA LUMPUR (Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026) — Couture, culture, and international glamour converged at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Saturday as Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026 (CFWM 2026) brought together royalty, ambassadors, designers, business leaders, and prominent personalities for one of the capital’s most colorful fashion celebrations of the year.
The gala marked the culmination of months of preparation following CFWM 2026’s official launch in July, transforming its international ambitions into an evening of runway spectacle, fine dining, entertainment, and cross-cultural exchange.
Among the prominent personalities at the event was Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan, chairman of European Wellness Biomedical Group, with European Wellness participating as the diamond sponsor of CFWM 2026.
Prof. Mike Chan Brings the Longevity Message to the Runway

“Malaysia has tremendous potential. When we bring together international talent, Malaysian creativity, and world-class hospitality, we create opportunities that extend far beyond one evening. This is the kind of international platform we are very happy to support.”
– Prof. Mike Chan
One of the evening’s highlights came when Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan delivered a short but pointed address, briefly shifting the spotlight from fashion and outward appearance to longevity, biological aging, and the science of staying younger from within.
Speaking to guests during the show, Prof. Chan said biological age—not simply the number of years a person has lived—was central to understanding healthy aging. He linked aging to the condition of the body’s organs, cells, and regenerative capacity.
“You can be younger by six to 18 years biologically. When I use the word ‘biologically,’ it means reversing the biological age of the organs in your body. Is reversal possible? My answer is yes.”
He also highlighted the importance of what he described as “cellspan”—the health and regenerative capacity of the body’s cells—as an important component of healthspan and longevity.
His brief appearance brought another dimension to the evening: amid a celebration of couture, beauty, and personal expression, Prof. Chan offered the audience a reminder that looking youthful is only one part of the equation; maintaining health and vitality from within is equally important.

For Prof. Chan, the gathering demonstrated how an international event can connect people from very different professional and cultural worlds.
A Runway Without Borders

“Fashion is about creativity, confidence, and how we present ourselves to the world. Tonight, we are also presenting Malaysia to the world—our talent, our hospitality, and our ability to bring people from many different countries together,” Prof. Mike Chan said.

Japanese Couture on the Runway: Models showcase the latest collection by Kaycee Couture of Japan at Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026, bringing contemporary Japanese creativity and dramatic silhouettes to the international runway in Kuala Lumpur.

Young Filipino Models Take the International Runway. Young talents from The Runway Atelier (TRA), Philippines, bring youthful energy and confidence to the runway at Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026, showcasing a colorful contemporary collection before an international audience in Kuala Lumpur. The Runway Atelier is a Philippine modelling and talent development agency that works with young models while building their runway skills and confidence.
The heart of the evening was an extensive international runway program featuring 16 designer presentations, with collections representing Malaysia alongside fashion talent from the Netherlands, Morocco, Russia, Australia-Zimbabwe, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and France-Morocco.
The first fashion presentation began at 6.30pm, with the program subsequently continuing after the gala dinner.
Among the collections was Jaya Misra of India, presenting Ethereal Duality, while Netherlands-based Else Hardjopawiro, representing VanElse x BaroQco, showcased The Royal Elegance Collection Asia Tour 2026.
Malaysia’s Dato’ AJ Ajay presented Suave – Mediterranean Hues, while Morocco’s Maha Bouzoubaa, under Caftan by Maha, brought Heritage Through Time to the runway.
Malaysian designer Yani Bakhtiar showcased Kebaya Nusantara, while Russia’s Karolina Kovorkova presented Evening Fancy Dresses.

The international flavor continued with Australia-Zimbabwe’s Victoria Gomiti (Vicky) and Afriluxe by V; Japan’s Yuki with Shifu – Unseen Tradition, Reimagined; Indonesia’s Diana Mayasari (Kinrara) with The Guardian of Indonesia; and the Philippines’ The Runway Atelier (TRA) with Noir du Minuit: A Black Midnight Collection.
Also represented were Indonesian designers Aki Tohuda and Icha Kay, France-Morocco’s Loubna Ayouch, Indonesia’s Leonnary Nobukosi Kandaka (Kay), and Malaysia’s Amanda Brown, whose Indian Heritage collection formed part of the diverse program.
Tommy Cha Brings Bespoke Fashion to the Runway
One of the Malaysian names attracting particular interest was bespoke designer Tommy Cha, whose participation continued his association with the CFWM platform.
His Bespoke Haute Couture presentation, Blanc by Tommy Cha, brought the traditions of personalized craftsmanship into an event increasingly international in scale.
Cha had already created anticipation at the CFWM press conference when he spoke about the enduring importance of bespoke fashion—clothing designed around the individual rather than simply produced for the mass market.

“We don’t simply create garments—we create confidence, identity, and a truly personal luxury experience, from the fitting to the final look.”

From Morning Rehearsals to Evening Glamour

Behind the Runway: Between fashion-show performances at Couture Fashion Week Malaysia 2026, the foyer outside the ballroom became a lively gathering point as models prepared for their next appearances, photographers captured impromptu fashion moments, and guests mingled over drinks and posed for photographs. The bustling scene offered a glimpse of the energy beyond the runway, as fashion, networking, and celebration continued throughout the evening.
Behind the elegance of the evening was an intensive production schedule that began hours before the first VVIP arrived.
Models and designers reported from 9am, followed by T-stage choreography rehearsals beginning at 9.30am. Hairstyling and makeup commenced at 11am, with young models undertaking separate rehearsals and preparations during the afternoon.
By 3.30pm, photographers and videographers were on standby, while sponsor booths and production areas were readied for the arrival of guests.
Registration began at 4.30pm, followed by the red-carpet arrival of VVIPs from 5pm.
The main program commenced at 6pm with the emcee’s welcome, VVIP march-in, national anthem, opening performance, and addresses by the CFWM chairman and guest of honor.
The fashion presentations were interspersed with an exclusive gala dinner and celebrity entertainment, turning the evening into much more than a conventional runway show.
Major Brands Back the Celebration

CFWM 2026 was supported by a broad network of corporate, lifestyle, hospitality, education and entrepreneurial partners.
Bina Puri headed the sponsorship line-up as Platinum Main Sponsor, while European Wellness participated as Diamond Sponsor.
Other principal partners included O2 as Gold Sponsor; Augment as Gold Hair and Makeup Sponsor; SATS DFS Duty-Free Watches Services, represented by Robin Chua, as Gold Sponsor; and FWC Connoisseurs and Grande Marketing as Beverage Gold Sponsors; EarthSea Jewelleries and HimeGroup Sdn Bhd Japan Restaurant as Silver Sponsors; as well as BaroQco Jewellery.
The wider list of supporters and contributors included Jade Heritage Spa, UCSI University, Evians Holdings, International Women Entrepreneurs, InterContinental Hotel, Japan Women, Rosalinda (PAKES), and Runway X.
European Wellness’ diamond sponsorship was particularly fitting for an event that has increasingly positioned itself at the intersection of international luxury, lifestyle, and wellness.
Prof. Chan said the value of such an event extended beyond the spectacle of a single evening.
Celebrating the People Behind the Runway
At 9.30pm, attention shifted from the collections to the people who made the evening possible.
Certificates of participation were scheduled to be presented to the designers, followed by a token of appreciation for the guest of honor, the Top Young Model Awards, certificates of appreciation for sponsors, and a closing group photography session.
For the designers, models, organizers, international guests, and corporate partners gathered at the Four Seasons, the finale represented the culmination of months of creative and organizational work.
Yet CFWM’s larger ambition extends beyond the ballroom.
By bringing designers from different nations together with royalty, diplomats, tourism representatives, entrepreneurs, and international brands, Couture Fashion Week Malaysia is developing into a platform through which Malaysia can showcase not only what it designs, but also what it represents as a destination.

As Prof. Chan put it:
“The most exciting things happen when different worlds come together. Fashion brings people together through creativity. Events like this create friendships, partnerships, and opportunities—and they allow Malaysia to show the world what we can offer.”
For one glittering evening at the Four Seasons Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia did precisely that—presenting itself through couture, craftsmanship, culture, and an international runway without borders.
