Cell Therapy and Healthy Longevity is a multidisciplinary medical monograph examining the science, preparation, delivery and potential clinical applications of cell-based medicine.

It brings together the work of 36 experts, including contributors associated with Fudan University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Naval Medical University, Nanchang University, Shandong University, Southwest Medical University, Hainan Medical University, Central South University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Soochow University.

Fudan University and its affiliated medical institutions have the strongest representation, with six participating experts: Liu Baochi, Chen Shanwen, Li Lei, Liu Li, Si Yanhui and Wang Hao.

The deputy editors are Wang Hao of Shanghai Medical College at Fudan University; Liu Jinfeng of the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital; and Liu Li of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University.

The publication also includes perspectives from prominent scholars including Academician Shi Yufang, Academician Prof. Wei Qiming, Academician Han Zhongchao and Academician Wang Fusheng.

At the centre of the book is the concept that the human body contains a “biological treasury” of cells, signalling systems and natural repair mechanisms that may potentially be harnessed to support tissue regeneration and restore biological function.

The book pays particular attention to autologous cells—cells obtained from a patient’s own body—and bone marrow-derived nucleated and mononuclear cells involved in blood formation, immune regulation, biological signalling and tissue repair.

It examines ultrasound-guided cellular delivery and discusses areas of investigation including liver disease, diabetes, premature ovarian insufficiency, osteoarthritis, cartilage damage and immune or bone-marrow suppression following chemotherapy.

The publication also explores cancer immunotherapies such as CAR-T-cell therapy, CAR-NK-cell therapy and tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy, together with gene therapy, oncolytic viruses and emerging forms of cellular engineering.

Its wider message is that longevity should not be measured solely by lifespan. The more meaningful objective is healthspan—the number of years during which a person remains physically capable, mentally active and functionally independent.

Cellular medicine is not presented as a promise of immortality or a universal cure. Instead, it is examined as an evolving field that requires scientific evidence, ethical practice, manufacturing quality, regulatory oversight and a sustained commitment to patient safety.

Published by Macao Science Publishing House in July 2026, Cell Therapy and Healthy Longevity carries the ISBN 978-99996-49-69-8.

*Medical note: Cell-based interventions differ considerably in their level of supporting evidence, regulatory status and approved clinical use. Patients should consult qualified medical specialists and carefully assess the evidence, risks and applicable regulations before considering treatment.
