Prof. Mike Chan Receives World’s Outstanding Scientist Lifetime Achievement Award at London World Business Forum (WBC 2026)
European Wellness Chairman honoured for contributions to biotechnology, regenerative medicine, longevity, healthspan and wellness while joining international leaders for high-level dialogue at The East India Club

LONDON (Sept 22, 2026) — Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan, Chairman of European Wellness Biomedical Group, has received the “World’s Outstanding Scientist in Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Longevity, Healthspan & Wellness — Lifetime Achievement Award” at the World Business Forum & Awards 2026 in London.
Presented at the prestigious East India Club at 16 St. James’s Square, the recognition marked another international milestone for Prof. Mike Chan, whose work has spanned biotechnology, regenerative medicine, cellular therapy, longevity and healthspan.
But the London occasion was about considerably more than receiving an award.
Prof. Chan was also invited to take his place alongside senior business, policy and institutional figures for the forum’s principal panel discussion, giving him an opportunity to exchange perspectives, network and engage with leaders from fields extending well beyond medicine.

The World Business Forum & Awards marked the official launch of the World Business Chamber (WBC), which describes itself as an independent, non-aligned platform dedicated to ethical, responsible and sustainable business leadership. The chamber aims to build bridges between government, business and civil society across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.
A Seat at the International Table
One of the highlights of Prof. Chan’s participation was the special panel discussion titled “Navigating Geopolitical Risks and Geoeconomic Challenges: Building Resilience and Strengthening Sustainability.”

The main panel: Prof. Mike Chan joins Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Baroness Manzila Uddin, Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, Andrew Khoo and Lai Mei Sim, OBE DL for the special panel discussion, “Navigating Geopolitical Risks and Geoeconomic Challenges: Building Resilience and Strengthening Sustainability.”
Prof. Chan joined The Honourable Baroness Manzila Uddin, Member of the UK House of Lords and former adviser to the British Government on communities and women; Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, Chairman of WBC’s International Executive Council and President of the ASEAN Business Club; Andrew Khoo, WBC Co-Chairman and Chairman and CEO of The MUI Group; and Lai Mei Sim, OBE DL, named as His Majesty The King’s Representative for the London Borough of Brent from 2007 to 2026 and Chairman of the British Malaysia Society from 2018 to 2026.
The discussion was moderated by Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Vice-President of the World Business Chamber and Chairman of the Muslim Trade Forum.
During the gathering, Prof. Mike Chan was seated among the panellists as Baroness Uddin addressed the room, as well as interacting with fellow delegates throughout the event.
For a scientist whose career has largely centred on medicine and biotechnology, Prof. Mike Chan’s inclusion in a discussion of global economic resilience provided a broader platform to engage with questions affecting businesses, healthcare organisations and international investment alike.

Navigating a More Uncertain World
The subject of the panel closely reflected the reason WBC says it was established.
According to the chamber, geopolitical risk, geoeconomic fragmentation and policy inconsistency are making cross-border investment increasingly difficult. Its proposed response is to create trusted dialogue and stronger connections between governments, businesses, SMEs, academia and civil society.

Its strategic reach centres on major economic corridors spanning RCEP, CPTPP, Europe and the Middle East, where investment, supply chains, digital trade and sustainability increasingly intersect.
That wider conversation has relevance to the healthcare and biotechnology industries in which Prof. Chan operates. Scientific innovation increasingly crosses national borders, involving research collaborations, regulation, investment, technology transfer and international healthcare networks.
Prof. Mike Chan’s participation therefore brought the perspective of regenerative medicine and longevity sciences into a forum concerned with the broader forces shaping international business.
Lifetime Recognition for a Career in Regenerative Medicine
The centrepiece of the occasion for Prof. Mike Chan came with the presentation of his Lifetime Achievement Award.

Award Certificate: The official certificate conferring upon Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan the “World’s Outstanding Scientist in Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Longevity, Healthspan & Wellness — Lifetime Achievement Award” at the World Business Forum & Awards 2026, held at The East India Club in London on September 22, 2026.
The final certificate conferred the title:
“World’s Outstanding Scientist in Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Longevity, Healthspan & Wellness — Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The wording broadens the award category proposed by WBC to recognise healthcare and wellness entrepreneurship, achievements in medical research and strategic vision, ethical leadership, positive societal impact and excellence in medical business leadership.
The expanded title specifically encompasses the fields that have become associated with Prof. Chan’s work: biotechnology, regenerative medicine, longevity, healthspan and wellness.

Networking in full swing: Prof. Mike Chan captures the atmosphere as delegates mingle during the World Business Forum & Awards, which brought together senior representatives from business, government and civil society
Central to that work has been the distinction between merely extending human lifespan and improving healthspan—the period of life spent in better health and function.
His wider European Wellness work has similarly sought to integrate diagnostics, regenerative approaches and personalised wellness strategies rather than treating longevity as an isolated objective.
In Distinguished Company
The London gathering also gave Prof. Mike Chan opportunities to interact with senior figures from business, government, public life and international organisations.

Among the dignitaries include Tun Dato’ Seri Zaki Tun Azmi, Patron of the World Business Chamber, former Chief Justice of Malaysia and former Chief Justice of the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts; Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid; Baroness Manzila Uddin; Andrew Khoo; Lai Mei Sim, OBE DL; and Sir Iqbal Sacranie.

London Networking: Prof. Mike Chan shares a warm moment with Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, Executive Chairman of YTL Corporation, during the World Business Forum & Awards in London.
The program also featured Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, President of the World Business Chamber, and scheduled H.E. Dato’ Indera Dr. Azfar bin Mohamad Mustafar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the United Kingdom, to deliver the keynote address before the World Business Awards presentation.
Against the historic surroundings of The East India Club, the event provided an intimate environment in which participants could move beyond formal presentations to converse over networking sessions and lunch.
For Prof. Mike Chan, those encounters provided another avenue for connecting the rapidly developing worlds of biotechnology, longevity and regenerative healthcare with a broader international network of business and policy leaders.

Mahalingam come together during the World Business Forum & Awards in London, which brought senior business and institutional leaders together for high-level dialogue, international networking and cross-border collaboration.

From Recognition to Global Dialogue
The World Business Chamber’s ambitions extend beyond organising conferences.
Its stated vision is to promote ethical, responsible and sustainable business leadership while acting as a “super connector” across major international economic blocs. Its activities are intended to translate high-level relationships into investment connections, policy input, knowledge exchange and practical partnerships.
Its areas of focus include AI and digital technology, banking and finance, green energy, climate resilience, smart manufacturing, research and innovation, professional services, food security and international supply chains.

The inaugural London gathering represented both an awards ceremony and the beginning of WBC’s proposed international platform.
For Prof. Mike Chan, it brought together two forms of recognition:
One was formal: a Lifetime Achievement Award recognising his body of work across biotechnology, regenerative medicine, longevity, healthspan and wellness.

The other was represented by his place at the discussion table itself—participating alongside leaders from business, government and public life in a conversation extending far beyond the boundaries of medicine.
As longevity and regenerative healthcare become increasingly international fields, that intersection of science, business and global cooperation is likely to become ever more important.
At The East India Club in London, Prof. Chan found himself at precisely that intersection.
